The NFL's Week 12 schedule is a little different this week than most weeks. The Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets will face one another on Friday, November 24th, 2023 (3:00 PM ET). This will be the only game played that day and it follows three from Thursday. The Jets are underdogs in the game at +9.5 (bet365) as they scramble to try and stay relevant in the current season, one where they made a significant investment to try and be competitive. But if things don't go right for NYJ in the weeks ahead, then the current season could end up as a dismal failure. The Dolphins vs Jets injury report is one with a lot of Miami players on it, especially with their offense.

Miami vs New York Injury Report: Recent NFL Headlines

Confused by abbreviations? Injury-report codes are in the tweet below.

The Jets started the week with 13 players on their injury report. However, as of Thursday morning, most of the players that they listed on the report were FP. New York's active roster doesn't look overly banged up. With their starters, there is an ankle concern with offensive tackle Mekhi Becton. However, for this stage in the season, a limited injury report is very good news for this team.

The drama with the Jets simply has to do with what will happen in the QB position. Tim Boyle is getting the start for this Week 12 game, one that NYJ enters as just a 4-6 team. The Jets relegated Zach Wilson to the QB3 position after losing confidence in him.

New York remains a team in disarray after the Week 1 injury to Aaron Rodgers. There is some talk that Rodgers may return this season, however, if the Jets don't get some wins before then, it will be too little too late for him to make a difference.

Miami looks bad on paper

The Miami Dolphins had 12 players on their half of the injury report this week. Almost all of them the team listed as LP on Thursday. There are some key players on the report such as De'Von Achane, Chase Claypool, Tyreek Hill, Robert Hunt, and Raheem Mostert. Braxton Berrios is also on the report with a hamstring injury noted but he has been FP this week.

The Dolphins definitely have the worst end of the injury report. However, it only pertains to the active roster. Tua Tagovailoa is active for this game and he is heads and shoulders above any QB that New York will be able to send out on the field. But when you look at Miami's injuries, they have so many questionable players in their offense that this game might be a very difficult one, especially when it comes to covering a large spread.

No fewer than eight offensive starters have some kind of problem that makes them questionable heading into Thursday. Miami backers thinking of taking their team to back a large spread on the road will want to see a lot of improvement with Thursday afternoon's update.

Dolphins vs Jets Injury Report: Betting Tips

This is a game that has the potential to be low-scoring. In fact, the sportsbooks seem wise to the situation. The game has a total points projection of just 41.0 (bet365) despite a huge arm on Miami's side with Tua Tagovailoa.

Most will be expecting Miami to score the lion's share of the points. But there is more upside to that points total than downside. Firstly, you can hope that some of Miami's questionable offensive players improve before game time. A lot of the players that are questionable do have betting lines associated with their player props.

Secondly, Tim Boyle does have two running backs that he can hand the ball off to and hope for yardage. Both Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook are active for Friday's game, giving the Jets hopes for some offense even if the passing game isn't there.

My recommendation is to take OVER 41.0 points at -110. You can also count on Tagovailoa making good receivers out of the peripheral ones that he might end up working with. He is still an MVP candidate in this comeback season for the Miami QB.

Who should you have in NFL fantasy rosters?

For fantasy picks, Jaylen Waddle clearly looms large in this game. He is one of the better players on Miami that does not have a question mark. Also, Breece Hall should have above-average usage for the Jets as there might not be much confidence in Boyle's passing as he comes in cold. Waddle and Hall are each +140 in the Anytime TD scorer's market, meaning just one of them needs to score to turn a profit if you back them both.
