Josh Allen's NFL MVP odds lengthening for Week 4

Josh Allen's NFL MVP odds have lengthened to +320 with one major sportsbook. Who is the true favorite at this point?

Josh Allen remains the favorite in the MVP betting market with bet365. He is 16 to 5 to win the regular season accolade this season with that firm for NFL MVP odds (ie. +320). His odds have drifted slightly following the loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Last week, when we examined the MVP odds, he was 3 to 1 in the market. Team wins are clearly a factor that affects a quarterback's chances for the MVP award. History has shown that the award usually goes to the quarterback of a team that wins a lot of regular season games. The loss to the Dolphins appears to have hurt Allen's chances.

Here's a look at Allen and the other favorites. The No. 2 favorite, Patrick Mahomes, has also drifted in this market.

NFL MVP Odds - betting favorites

  1. Josh Allen +320
  2. Patrick Mahomes +550
  3. Lamar Jackson +700
  4. Jalen Hurts +800
  5. Justin Herbert +1200
  6. Tua Tagovailoa +1600

Herbert has lengthened since last week, Jackson has shortened, and Tagovailoa has shortened as well.

Last week, we recommended Tagovailoa as a value bet when he was out at 16 to 1. Following a week where his team tallied an impressive win, he could still be taken. However, he didn't have an outstanding statistical game in Week 3 and that's another important factor for MVP candidates.

This week, if you are opening your betting in this market, then it's Lamar Jackson that you would take at 7 to 1. Jackson threw for four touchdowns in Week 3, he rushed for a touchdown, and also rushed for a game-high 107 yards. Furthermore, his Ravens are 2-1 and project for a strong record this season. He should be viewed as the true favorite at this point in the season.
