Week 3 NFL News for September 24th, 2022

Week 3 NFL news as Sunday approaches. Justin Herbert, George Kittle, Sammy Watkins, and Justin Herbert all make headlines.

Here's a snapshot of what's going on around the NFL as the bulk of the Week 3 games near. NFL fans will be looking at headlines right now to see what's going on in terms of injury updates and playing statuses for key players.

Justin Herbert is central to NFL News for Week 3

Justin Herbert is one player that NFL fans will be paying close attention to. He suffered a rib injury in Week 2, way back on the Thursday night game. It's not clear if he will be playing in Week 3 as of Saturday morning.

The Los Angeles Chargers will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that LA hosts. The Jags opened as +7 underdogs with bet365 but it was thought that Herbert would play. Now, the NFL news with the QB suggests that he is iffy and Jacksonville has shortened to +3 (odds from bet365 sportsbook).

Quarterback Justin Herbert is among several starters for the Los Angeles Chargers whose availability for a Week 3 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars is uncertain. Herbert, who is eight days removed from suffering a fracture to his rib cartilage, did not practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.

Tampa Bay vs Green Bay has some injury details

In another NFL headline, Sammy Watkins will miss Week 3 for the Green Bay Packers. "Green Bay Packers WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) out for Week 3 game at Tampa Bay Buccaneers" (Rob Demovsky; September 24th with ESPN). The Packers' offense suffered in Week 1 when they were short on receivers. Playing against the Bucs, Green Bay is a +1 underdog on Sunday.

For the same game, there is also some talk about Tom Brady not being 100%, however, the Bucs' QB is looking good for the start. Brady's name appeared on the injury report that Tampa Bay released on Friday.

NFL.com reports that George Kittle will play in Week 3. The member of the San Francisco 49ers has been out to start the season. By most measures, the 49ers look like they should be considered large favorites against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. The betting odds have them at just -1.5 for a spread to cover.
