Arizona Cardinals defeat Saints to open NFL Week 7

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night to open Week 7 of the NFL. Here's a recap of the top performers.

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night in the NFL. The game started Week 7 and the final score was Arizona 42, and New Orleans 34. With the result, the Cardinals improved to 3-4 on the season and, arguably, stay relevant in the current season. Meanwhile, the Saints fell to 2-5 and don't seem to be a factor in the current season.

Top statistical performers

Andy Dalton, who had a back injury to start the week, threw for 361 yards in the game on 30 for 47 passing. He connected for four touchdowns and had a decent passer rating of 89.1. However, the passing performance will be discussed because of Dalton's interceptions. He threw three INTs in the game -- and two of them were returned for touchdowns. They both occurred at about the same point of the game and gave the Cardinals a lot of momentum in front of their home crowd.

Dalton's counterpart, Kyler Murray, only passed for 204 yards in the game on 20 for 29. However, with no INTS and just one passing TD, Murray enjoyed a better passing rating game of 100.4.

The top rusher in the game was Eno Benjamin with Arizona. On 12 carries, he rushed for 92 yards.

The game's top receiver was Chris Olave, the Saints' rookie wide receiver. He received for 106 yards, however, he was just 7 for 14 on his targets. DeAndre Hopkins made his return to the NFL with a 103-yard receiving performance on 10 of 14 targets for Arizona. Newly acquired receiver Robbie Anderson was only targeted one time in the game and that fell for an incompletion.

What's next for both teams?

The Saints will play on October 30th against the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, the Arizona Cardinals will play the same day against the Minnesota Vikings.
