Recent NBA news and headlines as of September 25th, 2022. There have been some contract extensions and injuries to keep tabs on.

For the last couple of weeks, most of the news in the NBA has been about Robert Sarver and, more recently, Ime Udoka. However, the regular season is nearing and there have been transactions lately. Here's a look at some of the news updates in the NBA that came in over the last couple of days.

The New Orleans Pelicans have awarded CJ McCollum a two-year extension. The agreement will bind him to New Orleans for four years as he's already signed for the next two. The details of the contract were reported on ESPN on September 24th.

New Orleans Pelicans star CJ McCollum has agreed on a two-year, $64 million contract extension that'll take him through the 2025-2026 season, his agent Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports told ESPN on Saturday. McCollum's new deal ties him to New Orleans for four years and $133 million, aligning him on long-term deals with franchise cornerstones Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were also active this weekend. They extended Dean Wades contract.

In other news, Keldon Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs will miss training camp. He is expected back for the start of the NBA season. The problem, as reported on at CBS sports, is a dislocated shoulder.

The Boston Celtics also lost a player but in the Cs case, the loss is more long-term. Robert Williams III will miss 8-12 weeks after knee surgery as reported on by Tim Bontemps with ESPN. Al Horford could start in the center position but that will leave Boston short of a starting PF. One move they could make is to elevate Grant Williams to the starting PF position.
