1X2 is soccer’s core match-result market, with three possible outcomes because — unlike most US sports — a game can end level:
Because the draw is a real outcome, soccer odds are priced three ways rather than two. It’s one of the biggest differences between betting soccer and betting NFL, NBA or MLB.
The Asian handicap removes the draw by giving one team a goal head-start (or deficit). For example, backing a favorite at -1.5 means they must win by 2+ goals; backing an underdog at +1.5 means they can lose by one and you still win. It’s soccer’s closest equivalent to a point spread and often offers better value than the straight 1X2 line.
The most common soccer total is Over/Under 2.5 goals — you’re betting on the combined goals in the match being 3+ (over) or 2 or fewer (under). Totals shift by matchup: two high-scoring attacking sides might be priced at Over 3.5, while a tight defensive clash could sit at Over/Under 2.0.
Both Teams To Score (BTTS), sometimes called “goal/no goal,” is a yes/no bet on whether both sides find the net. It’s popular because it doesn’t depend on who wins — you’re simply betting on both teams scoring at least one goal each.
