Betting tips: 2024 World Series
Firstly, if you are betting on a market that is basically a year from settling, make sure you only work with really long odds. You do NOT want to make a big bet because you have to go without the money in your account for a year -- even if you win. With the long shots, at least you only have to bet nickels and dimes to make things interesting. That means you won't have to reload your account while waiting for bets to settle a year from now.
Also, when you are betting in the offseason, you are betting based on opinions in offseason transactions or developments. Who is going to make a move in the offseason to improve? That is one question. Another consideration should be who had a young team with promise last season. Young players can erupt at any time as the older players decline.
My recommendations are the following:
- Cincinnati at 35 to 1
- Yankees at 15 to 1
- Mets at 18 to 1
With the Reds, Cincinnati was good last season. They also have a promising young player to build around, infielder Elly De La Cruz. Also, the Reds are 35 to 1, which means you can bet small.
I recommend the Yankees and Mets for different reasons. There is a business perspective to take in. The 2023 World Series had the lowest ratings in the history of the Fall Classic according to a recent New York Times article: "Rangers-Diamondbacks World Series Ratings Are Lowest Ever" (John Koblin/November 2nd, 2023).
There's no way MLB can let another series like that happen. Baseball will need the big teams in the 2024 World Series so that people actually watch. These matters are settled in boardrooms as much as they are settled on the field, in my opinion.
2024 World Series Prediction: Yankees vs Dodgers
New York and LA-based teams deliver the TV ratings. I expect things to go New York's way in the offseason and regular season, whether for the Mets or Yankees. Look for the 2024 World Series to be Dodgers vs Yankees, not Astros vs Braves. With the Dodgers, I don't recommend them right now because +650 is too short for a year-long bet.
