The New York Giants will be in Dallas on Thursday in the middle game of a triple-header for that day. Both teams enter the game with 7-3 records on the season. The hosting Cowboys are strong favorites in the game at -9.5 with Unibet sportsbook.
The Pick: Saquon Barkley over 102.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115)
The large spread in the game has to be considered a follow-up to the number that the Cowboys did on the Vikings in Week 11. Dallas posted a 37-point margin of victory in the game, their largest margin of victory so far this season.
Furthermore, New York enters the Week 12 game on the shaky side. They fell in Week 11 to the Detroit Lions by 13 points. It was New York’s second double-digit loss in three weeks.
In fact, if you look at New York, there is not much to be excited about lately. Even their wins lately haven’t been that convincing, with an 8-point spread against Houston and a 6-point spread against Jacksonville. In the game against the Jags, it did only come down to one yard as the Jags’ final drive fell short at the goal line.
New York is hurting for receivers
The Giants recently placed one of their better receivers on the injured reserve. Wan’Dale Robinson has an injured knee, Dan Salomone of the official site reports. This is a team that already lost their top receiver, Sterling Shephard, earlier in this season. Furthermore, tight end Daniel Bellinger will be out for the game on Thursday. That’s a lot of attrition in the receiving core that this club has suffered.
The Giants look like they are going to have to go to Saquon Barkley a lot. With Trevon Diggs in the secondary for Dallas, a ground attack could limit his defensive effectiveness so a Barkley-oriented offense doesn’t look that bad. He should be taken not just for rushing yards but for receiving yards in the game.
