The Tampa Bay Buccaneers published their injury updates ahead of their Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had an injury report that was worth watching this week. They started the week with Leonard Fournette, Julio Jones, and Chris Godwin all listed as questionable. The Bucs released their final injury report on Friday and here are the biggest updates.
The loss of Godwin is significant. He is one of the more talented receivers on the Tampa Bay offense. If Fournette and Jones miss Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints, then the TB offense would be depleted of everyone except for QB Tom Brady. The Bucs could be heading toward a loss as they prepare for what looks like it will be a difficult game. Updates may be game-time decisions as NFL clubs don’t update injury reports on Saturdays.
The New Orleans Saints had their own injury report to release. However, the updates were not as significant as that of the other side. The balance of the optimism with this game feels as though it is on the side of the Saints, a team that we included in our Top Ten for NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 2.
The New Orleans Saints started the week with a +2.5 point handicap in the game. That’s where they stand following the updated injury report on Friday. This is a team that won their Week 1 game and they dabbled with playoff contention last season. Their efforts last year took a hit when Jameis Winston, their top QB, went out with injury. With him healthy, the Saints look like the pick to make in this game.
The Saints and Bucs will meet at noon CT with Fox providing the television coverage. Certainly, the Saints’ defense will be playing with confidence in this one.
