Matthew Stafford’s miserable season is practically over. The quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams has been added to the team’s injured reserve. A stay of four weeks is required at a minimum, meaning that Stafford will not be able to play until Week 17 at the earliest. He could still make appearances very late in the season, however, it’s possible that we’ve seen the last of Stafford this season.

The roster mover creates a career opportunity for John Wolford. He played in one game this season and had a passer rating of 79.9 in a 27-17 loss to Arizona. That game stands as one of the only games where Wolford played a significant number of snaps in his career.

Buffalo takes over AFC East lead

The Buffalo Bills took over the top spot in the AFC East with their victory on Thursday. They defeated the New England Patriots, a result that really puts a damper on the Pats’ chances of making it to the playoffs.

The Bills are 9-3 after the result and that puts them a win ahead of the Miami Dolphins, who are 8-3. However, Miami can get back into first place with a win in Week 13. They do have a very tough game as they head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. If Miami win, then they currently hold the tiebreaker as the Dolphins beat the Bills early this season. The two teams will meet again later this month in a game that Buffalo will host.

Sunday’s late game: Colts vs Cowboys

The stand-alone late game on Sunday in Week 13 will feature the Indianapolis Colts against the Dallas Cowboys. Whatever momentum the Colts seemed to have a few weeks ago when they won under Jeff Saturday has since dissipated. The Colts have lost two straight games and they sit in the 10th spot in the AFC standings.

The game feels like their last chance to make a push to the playoffs but the oddsmakers with bet365 have them at +10.5 in the game. It will feature a relatively new coach in Saturday against Mike McCarthy, a former Super Bowl-winning coach.
