Recent NFL News (Dec. 14th): Kyler Murray injured

The Arizona Cardinals suffered a double setback on Monday night football in Week 14. Firstly, the team lost to the New England Patriots, a result that basically ended any serious hopes of Arizona contending for a playoff spot this season. Secondly, the Cardinals lost their quarterback, Kyler Murray.

Murray was removed from the game very early on Monday. On Tuesday, we learned that he has a torn ACL (ESPN/Josh Weinfuss/December 14th, 2022). It will be interesting to see how this injury carries over into the next season.

Murray, who is still just 25 years old, was the MVP favorite during the early parts of last season. His Cardinals never really peaked at the right time last year and they had no momentum at any point of this season. At 4-9, the Cardinals are all but mathematically eliminated heading into Week 15. They look like a good pick to finish 4th in their division as the LA Rams might outplay the Cards for the balance of the season.

Thursday night game: San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers will take their 9-4 record into Seattle on Thursday night. The 49ers will face the Seahawks, a team that is 7-6 on the season. These are the two teams at the top of the NFC West. However, San Francisco has a firm grip on the division with a two-game lead and just four games remaining.

The game does hold some intrigue because of the QB situation with the 49ers. They have won six straight games but most of those were games that San Francisco hosted. Furthermore, the 49ers have major problems in the QB position. Brock Purdy, their third-string QB, is questionable for the game. Seattle’s chances appear to be redeemed by the San Francisco injury situation even as the Seahawks fight for their playoff lives.

Miami Dolphins are in need of a win

The Miami Dolphins had an embarrassing west coast swing over the last two weeks. They lost in Week 13 to San Francisco and in Week 14 the Dolphins lost to the LA Chargers. Miami, in losing those two games, has lost control over its own destiny in its divisional battle with the Buffalo Bills.

Miami and Buffalo will square off in Week 15, a game that the Dolphins really need to win. They have fallen to 8-5 and their playoff hopes could soon be jeopardized if they don’t find some wins. The two teams will meet late on Saturday with the Bills clear favorites at -7.5 with bet365 sportsbook.

Philadelphia should improve to 13-1

The Philadelphia Eagles are -9.0 favorites in Week 15. They will face the Chicago Bears, a team that hasn’t put its best foot forward in an NFL game for ages. The Bears were once 3-3 but they are 3-10 now. With Philadelphia definitely the more motivated team, it’s hard to picture Chicago putting up much resistance when these two teams meet on Sunday.
