The Super Bowl will take place on February 11th, 2024. As the pinnacle hour in American sports, the game always attracts a ton of betting from the public, especially in the era of broader legalized betting in the USA. The betting markets always include markets that you never see for any other games. For instance, one of the common markets for the Super Bowl in the past has been the amount of time the national anthem singer spends singing the Star-Spangled Banner. On that 'note' (pardon the pun), I've compiled some YouTube videos of Reba McEntire singing the national anthem. She is the county music star and the living legend who is commissioned to perform the American national anthem at this year's big game. Maybe we can figure out how long she will take based on how long she has taken at past performances?

Reba McEntire Sang for About 85 seconds at the 1997 World Series

One 'gavinwb1' posted a YouTube video of Reba McEntire singing the national anthem at the 1997 World Series. I am pretty sure they butchered the spelling of her name at the 10-second mark. Either that or everyone has spelled her name wrong since. It says "McIntyre" instead of "McEntire" but maybe thesinger is an impostor, like Frank Drebben overtaking Enrico Pallazzo.

'McIntyre' appears to start at the 15-second mark and appears to conclude no later than the 1:40 mark. So the 1997 Reba 'McIntyre' had an 85-second rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, at most. It could have been about 83 seconds as it's hard to pick the exact moment with crowd noise involved.

Reba McEntire Singing the Star Spangled Banner in 1974

Reba McEntire has been singing the national anthem since before anyone playing in the Super Bowl was born. One 'C Johnson" posted a video 16 years ago on YouTube. The posting date of the video is not the date of the original recording. Reading the comments, one user claimed Reba was singing in 1974, which looks about right based on her appearance. She appears to be done at the 1:13 mark of the video so that's just a 72-second rendition, as she starts at about the 1-second mark in the video. Maybe the quick version is due to youthful nerves?

In another YouTube video, Reba is shown singing the national anthem on June 10th, 2017. The video post is by one 'Starstrucknut.' She appears to start at the 40-second mark and appears done at 2-minute mark. That would be an 80-second rendition.

Reba in June 2017

The next YouTube video shows Reba McEntire singing at a baseball game with a caption of June 10th, 2017. The video post is by one 'Starstrucknut.' She appears to start at the 40-second mark and appears done at the 2-minute mark. That would be an 80-second rendition.

The three videos average out to 79 seconds of singing time or so, depending on where you pinpoint the start and stops. If I was a sportsbook, I'd be going for about a 79.5-second performance with the OVER/UNDER at -110. If I was betting on this market, which I wouldn't be caught dead doing, I would throw out the early performance because that was the fast one. Instead, I would expect an 82-83 second performance and going OVER or UNDER accordingly, depending on what was offered.
