The wait is over. After a long period of negotiations, with some indications that Lamar Jackson would leave, the Baltimore Ravens are extending the contract of their quarterback. And now he is the highest-paid player in NFL history, as the new contract is worth $260 million for the next five years.

With $185 million guaranteed, Jackson has now a contract worth $52 million per year. This is slightly higher than the extension Jalen Hurts signed with the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago. Hurts also signed a five-year deal, worth $255 million, and had the highest salary in NFL history during 10 days.

”For the last few months, there’s been a lot of he said, she said, a lot of nail-biting, a lot of head scratching going on. But for the next five years, it’s a lot of flock going on.” Said Jackson in a reference to the term “Ravens Flock” used by the fans.

Jackson, 26, won a lot of new targets this offseason. Before the draft, Baltimore signed Odell Beckham Jr. on a one-year deal. The team also added another great weapon on the draft, selecting WR Zay Flowers in the first round. Finally, some other good names such as Nelson Agholor were also added to the depth chart.
