Carolina keeps adding good names to their offense; after Adam Thielen, one more WR for the franchise
The Carolina Panthers are signing WR D.J. Chark. He arrives in Carolina as another great addition to the wide receiver depth chart of the team, which signed Adam Thielen recently. Just like Thielen, Chark also arrives at the franchise as a free agent after having his contract with the Detroit Lions expired and not renewed.
Carolina reached an agreement with the player and signed a one-year contract. Chark posted on his social media accounts earlier today a thank you note to the Detroit Lions fans and organization. “The past year has been incredible for me. Signing with Detroit and meeting the great people of that organization was huge”, he said.
“Playing with my brothers and going from 1-6 to 9-8 was amazing! I believe transparency and honesty is everything. With that being said, this chance in Carolina is second to none”, Chark finished.
He is hands down a great acquisition by the Panthers as they are building a very interesting offense. But Chark has to be healthy. He hasn’t played a full season in his five-year career, and he is only 26 years old. Carolina only needs a quarterback to be perfect. Let’s see who they draft.
The wide receiver played his college career at LSU. After that, he was drafted in 2018 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, with the no. 61 overall pick, in the second round. Suffering a lot with injuries throughout his career, he never played more than 15 games in a season, which happened in 2019.
For a player with five seasons in the league, he has an unusually low number of appearances. It was only 54 games. During this time he added great stats though. He has 177 receptions in 317 targets, 2,544 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 2021 he played only four games. Last season with the Lions, he scored three TDs.
