In a game that will be remembered in Jacksonville for ages, the Jaguars hosted and defeated the LA Chargers on Saturday. The Jags won despite the fact that their QB threw 4 INTs and despite falling behind 27-0 in the game. The result was LA 30, and Jacksonville 31 with the Jags winning on a field goal as time expired.
With the win, the Jaguars are now 10-8 on the season — regular season and playoffs combined. Meanwhile, the Chargers fell to 10-8 with the 1-point loss. This one had to sting as the team held a 27-0 lead at one point in the game. It seemed that everything went their way in the first quarter with the team benefiting from some no-calls against their defenders.
LA still had their chances in the second half. The team missed a field goal that would have padded their lead to 13 points in the fourth quarter. For the second straight year, the Chargers saw their season end on a game-ending field goal. Charger fans will remember that they lost in Week 18 last year on a field goal, a result that kept them out of last year’s playoffs.
Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars was the winning quarterback in the game. He had 288 passing yards in the outing and his ratio of TDs to INTs was 4 to 4. Lawrence’s performance, overall, was not memorable as he had a passer rating of 70.2. However, this game will go down in Jags’ history for the second half.
Justin Herbert, the Chargers QB, had 273 passing yards in the outing and his ratio of TDs to INTs was 1 to 0. Herbert had a passer rating of 84.7, which certainly does not make the game his finest one.
