The New York Giants are extending Daniel Jones’ contract. They reached an agreement and the new deal is worth $160 million for the QB and has a duration of four years. With this move, the team freed up the franchise tag to use on RB Saquon Barkley, and secure both of the offensive pillars for next season.

Daniel Jones, 25, had in 2022 his fourth season in NFL and by far had his best year with the Giants, leading the team to the playoffs after a 9-7-1 record. They still beat the Minnesota Vikings in Wild Card before being crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles in Divisional Round.

Despite the painful loss against NFC East rivals, the season was good overall. But the Giants ended up choosing not to exercise the fifth-year option in Jones’ rookie contract, leaving open the discussion about the future of the QB position in New York.

With the new contract and all of its details, Daniel Jones is now the seventh highest-paid QB in the NFL. He will make $40 million a year, which places him right behind Bills QB Josh Allen, who will make $43 million this season. These are the top 10 highest-paid quarterbacks in 2023 and their yearly salaries:

  1. Aaron Rodgers (GB) – $50.3 million
  2. Russell Wilson (DEN) – $48.5 million
  3. Kyler Murray (ARI) – $46.1 million
