The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing their DL Brandon Graham for another season. They reached an agreement for a one-year extension worth $6 million. Graham told ESPN that he chose to stay in Philadelphia for loyalty to the organization. He was going to hit the free agency.
“I definitely don’t want to miss out on this championship that we’re about to make a run for. I pretty much told my agent to get a deal done before free agency so I wouldn’t have to go through that part. I’m just so happy everything came to fruition”, said Graham in an interview for ESPN.
He was expected to receive some interest as soon as he hit the free agency market. One of the interested would be the Cleveland Browns as per sources. However, Graham didn’t make it possible for any other team to lure him as he closed the deal before the free agency starts.
Graham is the player with the most games for Philadelphia in the current roster. He has already 178 regular season games for the Eagles. If he doesn’t get injured or suspended next season, he will pass kicker David Akers and become the player with the most regular season games in the history of the franchise. Akers has 188 games in Philly uniform.
The defensive end was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010, with overall 13th pick, still on the first round. He’s been playing in Philly ever since, and he will make his 13th season in the league in 2023.
So far, he has 178 games and a lot of great stats. He sums up 449 tackles (331 solo + 118 assisted), 70 sacks, 22 forced fumbles and seven recovered fumbles. A fun fact is that he never got an interception. Last season he set a personal record of 11 sacks and finished the year losing the Super Bowl versus the Chiefs. He won Super Bowl LII versus the Patriots.
