Carson Wentz questionable as Week 6 nears

Carson Wentz is questionable as of early Wednesday. NFL fans looking for an injury update should expect one in the afternoon.

NFL Week 6 will start on Thursday night in a game that's hardly a blockbuster. The Chicago Bears will host the Washington Commanders. The former team is just a -1.0 favorite with bet365 sportsbook. As of early Wednesday, there is a chance that Carson Wentz, Washington's QB1, might not play in the game.

Wentz is questionable according to reporters in Washington. Matthew Paras, a beat reporter for the Washington Times, tweeted a picture on Tuesday of Wentz seemingly favoring his shoulder.

If Wentz doesn't play then Taylor Heinecke would likely get the start. Heinecke played in a lot of games last season after Ryan Fitzpatrick picked up an injury. Heinecke has not appeared in a game yet this season.

But the Washington Commanders were not terrible last season when Heinecke was at the helm. They went 7-9 in the games that he appeared in. The highlight of the season was a 29-19 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that game, Wentz kept the sheet clean for INTs and completed 26 of 32 passes.

Look for a news update on Wednesday

Public updates on Wentz should be available on Wednesday afternoon. What fans will be looking for is a "full participant" for a practice status for Wednesday. Limited would be held to mean that he is still questionable or a game-time decision.

The Thursday night game starts at 8:15 pm ET. Wentz need not be considered a critical player in order for Washington to succeed. Heinecke is a credible QB2, especially given that the Commanders are off to a 1-4 start to the season.
