Browns signing Marquise Goodwin

The veteran wide receiver is heading to Cleveland after one season with the Seattle Seahawks

Friday was a busy day in the NFL Free Agency. Another great move happening today (14) is the signing of WR Marquise Goodwin by the Cleveland Browns. The player and the team reached an agreement and signed a one-year deal.

Goodwin, 32, is a veteran wide receiver who will bring speed to the Browns’ offense, helping on deep routes. He averages 16.2 yards per catch throughout his career, which shows how much of a threat he is running long routes. And about the speed, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.27 seconds when he participated in the Combine.

Although he is not young anymore, last season he proved he can still be a threat to the opponents' defenses. He played 13 games with the Seattle Seahawks, recording 27 catches, 387 yards and four touchdowns. Now he is joining an explosive offense with Donovan Peoples-Jones and Elijah Moore, acquired in March.

This is his 10th season in the league, and the Cleveland Browns are going to be his sixth different home. He played four seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2013-2016), three with the San Francisco 49ers (2017-2019), one with the Chicago Bears (2021) and one with the Seahawks (2022). In 2020 he was part of the Philadelphia Eagles roster but opted out of the season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marquise Goodwin

The wide receiver entered the NFL in 2013, after being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the draft that year, with the no. 78 overall pick, out of Texas. He has played in the league for 10 years summing up 102 games. During this time he records 187 catches in 362 targets, 3,023 yards and 18 touchdowns. Although he is very fast, he is usually not part of the running game. He has only 19 carries in his career, for 93 yards and no TD.
