As the draft is getting closer and closer, the free agency expectedly gets slower. However, this doesn’t mean we won’t have any breaking news like the signing of OBJ by the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. Also, the Buffalo Bills are now re-signing DE Shaq Lawson for another year, as per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Lawson, 28, is going to play for the Buffalo Bills for the sixth season in his seven-year career so far. And according to him, Buffalo is where he feels more comfortable playing. “I can be myself around these guys,” he said.

“I’m just more comfortable. Coach McDermott lets me be myself. This defense, I’ve been in this system a long time,” stated reflecting on the reasons he feels better when he is playing for the Bills.

He is in his second stint with the Bills. The player spent his first four career seasons there before moving to the Miami Dolphins. And the AFC East seems to be his thing as he also played one year for the New York Jets before coming back to Buffalo.

“Mostly just being myself, being a talkative Shaq and being the player that I was when I was here before. This defense, I’ve been in this system a long time so when I came back it was just like a review to me, just picking right back up where I left off at.”

Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft, with the no. 19 overall pick, coming from Clemson University, Lawson is going to his eighth season in the league. He played for three of the four AFC East teams and spent some time in the Houston Texans, but he didn’t play a single game.

During this time, the defensive end has 93 appearances. He sums up 194 tackles in his career (114 solo +80 assisted), 25 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and one interception. His best career was in 2019, whe he recorded 32 tackles (t-2nd career high) and 6.5 tackles (career high).
