The Phoenix Suns, a team that we recently dropped out of our Top Ten NBA Power Rankings, hosted the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. The Wizards, who entered the game with a ten-game losing streak, actually won in a contest that was close at the final buzzer. They put up a single-possession spread in the game, winning by 3 points. The final score was Washington 113, and Phoenix 110.

Wizards @ Suns Tuesday: DeAndre Ayton scores 30

With the loss, the Suns are now 19-13 on the season. Their three-game winning streak came to a crashing halt on their home court and against a team that everyone was having success against recently.

Devon Booker (pictured) did not play in the game for Phoenix. Their top scorer was DeAndre Ayton, who had 30 points in the showdown. The Suns still have an elite record at home of 14-4, however, they will surely be disappointed to have squandered an opportunity to get a victory against a struggling team. Next up for Phoenix is a Friday-night game hosting the Memphis Grizzlies.

Washington’s ten-game losing streak still stings

Meanwhile, the Wizards improved to 12-20 with the 3-point victory. Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal paced the scoring for Washington, with 29 points and 27 points respectively. The Wizards are now just 4-13 on the road and the result really went against intuition after the Suns entered the game as -300 moneyline favorites with bet365 sportsbook.

It remains to be seen whether the game represents a change in direction for Washington. They did miss Bradley Beal for some of their recent losses. With him back in the lineup, Washington fans may be optimistic about the team making a charge back to .500. However, losing ten games is a tough streak to fade in an NBA season. Washington plays next at the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
