For the second time in the NBA history, the regular season top-scorer will be an international player
As the NBA regular season finale approaches, some side title races start to decide their winners. One of those is the league’s top-scorer in the regular season. Who will win the NBA scoring title? We have two players still fighting for this trophy, with a clear favourite. But the sure thing is that we will have an international player winning this prize for the second time in the league’s history.
Joel Embiid is the favourite to win this prize for the second time in a row. Born in Cameroon, the Philadelphia 76ers player has 2,110 points scored in 64 games he played. He is also in the race for the MVP prize with Serbian Nuggets’ Nikola Jokić, and he is also the favourite.
While he is facing off a Serbian in the MVP race, he is also directly disputing the scoring title with another European, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić. Born in Slovenia, he scored 2,096 points in the same 64 games played. However, Dončić has 14 points and one game less to win this dispute, which makes him the underdog.
The next player on this list is Damian Lillard, from the Portland Trail Blazers. He has 1,866 points this season. Despite the fact that he has more than 100 points less, he will not play this season anymore as the Blazers are eliminated from the playoff contention.
The NBA is on hold this Monday (3) as the NCAA basketball final takes place tonight. Uconn and San Diego State fight for the trophy. Then, from Tuesday to Sunday, the NBA regular season holds its final games. The Philadelphia 76ers still have four games left for Embiid to win the MVP and the scoring title prizes. The Dallas Mavericks only have three more. Check out their games.
