The NBA had a full schedule on Wednesday night. One game that carried some importance for bettors was the game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors.
The Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA, however, they recently lost their starting center. It will be interesting to see how they do from this point onward and last night’s game provided a glimpse at what the Grizzlies with be doing for the next 3-5 weeks without Steven Adams.
The Warriors won the game in a contest that was very close as time expired. Playing from home, where they have played their best this season, Golden State put up a single-possession margin of victory in the game, winning by just 2 points. The final score was Memphis 120, and Golden State 122 as the Grizzlies lost their fourth straight game.
With the loss, the Grizzlies are now 31-17 overall on the season. All of their recent losses have come on the road. This is definitely a team that is far more comfortable when playing from home.
That is a major takeaway for bettors at this point: when the playoffs come around, the Grizzlies might lose their first road series. Bettors should stay away from them in the NBA playoff antepost markets until they win more games as visitors.
Brandon Clarke was the player that received the major uptick in minutes due to the Steve Adams injury. Clarked played 32 minutes in the game, just one minute shy of his season-high. He had 19 points and 8 rebounds but it should be noted that his point differential was -5. All of the other starters for Memphis had a positive plus/minus.
Xavier Tillman played 13 minutes in the game and he also went -5 on point differential. It seems that the Grizzlies could struggle in the 3-5 weeks that it will take for them to get Steven Adams back. You have to wonder if they will address the problem of being down a big man with a trade before next month’s deadline.
Meanwhile, the Warriors improved to 24-24 with the 2-point victory. The victory was basically par for the course for the team. They are hard to beat when hosting and improved to 18-6 from home. The top scorer in the game was Steph Curry, who had 34 points despite being ejected from the game.
