Spurs vs Nets recap for Tuesday, Jan. 17th/23. The Nets (now 27-16 this season) lost to the Spurs, who are now 14-31.
The NBA had a sparse schedule on Tuesday night. In one of the games, the San Antonio Spurs hosted the Brooklyn Nets. The Spurs, in a surprising result, put up a single-digit margin of victory in the game, winning by 8 points. The final score was Brooklyn 98, and San Antonio 106 as the Nets continue to struggle without their star player, Kevin Durant.
With the loss, the Nets are now 27-16 overall on the season. Besides Durants, the Nets were also missing Kyrie Irving in this game. Durant has been out for three straight contests and is expected to miss a few more weeks. The Nets are 0-3 in the games that they’ve played since he suffered his MCL sprain against Miami last week.
That they lost to the San Antonio Spurs is particularly troubling for Brooklyn backers. The Spurs remain one of the weaker teams in the NBA. With the loss, the Nets show just how far they’ve sunk without KD in the lineup. The Spurs will remain on the road for the time being. Next, they will face the Phoenix Suns in a game that will be played on Thursday.
The Spurs improved to just 14-31 on the season with the 8-point victory. This is a team that is without Devin Vassell, one of their best players. The top scorer in the game on Tuesday was Keldon Johnson. He had an impressive 36 points in the contest and he was the only player in the game to score more than 20 points for either team.
