Recent NBA News – October 14th, 2022

The NBA regular season will start on October 18th. The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics will meet in one game and the Lakers will play the Warriors in another. The bulk of the teams will start their season on October 19th.

Recently, we have been looking at the 2022 NBA draft picks and their performances. We’ll continue to do that but here’s a look at recent NBA news and headlines as the regular season nears.

The Milwaukee Bucks went 0-5 in the preseason

The Milwaukee Bucks finished their preseason without a win. Their next game is October 20th when they face the Philadelphia 76ers. Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke about the winless preseason.

“It doesn’t worry me,” Antetokounmpo said after Wednesday’s game. “What worries me is our habits and building good habits.

“Right now, we’re not vocal enough. We’re not urgent enough. We’re not hungry enough. But at the end of the day, it’s the preseason. We have the whole regular season to find ourselves.”

Keegan Murray was sick Wednesday (non-COVID)

The Sacramento Kings’ hopes this season partly rest with Keegan Murray. The fourth overall draft pick from 2022 has been playing well in the preseason. However, he was sick on Wednesday night with a non-COVID illness. Those following him to try and get a read on where his playing level is at will need to wait to see if he plays on October 14th against the LA Lakers. Murray is our pick for the Rookie of the Year this season.

Zion Williamson is injured….

This news will come as no surprise to NBA basketball fans. However, many will still be very disappointed with it. Zion Williamson buggered up his ankle in a recent preseason game against the Miami Heat. The good news thus far is that the injury is only considered day-to-day. Hopefully, it does not blossom into anything major.

LaMelo Ball is also injured

LaMelo Ball did not play in Charlotte’s Wednesday night game in the NBA preseason. It could be said that he wasn’t at his best during their opening preseason games.

Charlotte’s best player, Ball was just 5 for 19 shooting in the preseason opener. He followed that up with 5 for 13 shooting in the team’s second preseason game. In a recent game against the Washington Wizards, Ball was just 2 for 10 and then the injury news followed.

Ball is expected to miss the last preseason game for Charlotte. It’s possible that he will miss the team’s opening game on October 19th as well.

LaMelo’s brother, Lonzo ball, was central to injury news earlier in the fall. Lonzo had knee surgery recently. He and the Chicago Bulls are still hoping for a full recovery and for the PG to help the Bulls make the playoffs this season.

A rookie to watch in the early NBA season

We have been covering the performance of NBA rookies during the preseason. Jalen Williams is one player that might highjack a role as a starter based on his preseason performance. He has been steady in his minutes for the OKC Thunder, a team that is desperately in need of some good news. They lost Chet Holmgren for the season already, a high pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. NBA fans should also be aware of Paolo Banchero and his recent form.

Draymond Green drama in Oakland

Draymond Green has been central to some drama for the Golden State Warriors. The powerful power forward punched Jordan Poole last week. Green missed some time with the Warriors but will play with the team on Friday this week. It’s hard to imagine how there could not be some bad vibes between the two players as punch-throwing between teammates is definitely crossing the line.
