Recent NBA news: looking back at some games from last night and key performances from Steph Curry and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Golden State Warriors, hardly road Warriors, were active in the NBA last night. They visited Phoenix for what was GS’s eighth road game of the season. They continued to struggle as visitors, losing to the Suns 130-119. Steph Curry had 50 points in the game as the Warriors continue to rely on their superstar’s scoring to stay competitive.
But the loss marks Golden State’s eighth road loss of the season. Heading into Thursday, they are one of four NBA teams that have yet to win a road game. The others are the LA Lakers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Orlando Magic — not exactly great company for the Warriors to be keeping. However, of those four teams, Golden State is the club that has the most losses thus far at 0-8.
The Oklahoma City Thunder won in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night. The Thunder defeated the Washington Wizards 121-120. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 42 points in the game, including a well-guarded three-pointer with just 1.1 seconds remaining that gave the Thunder the lead for the last time. It was an up-and-down game that saw OKC come from behind as they trailed by double-digits in the first half. The win also saw OKC improve to 7-8 on the season while Washington fell to 8-7.
The Orlando Magic suffered another defeat on Wednesday. They fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 126-108, a result that saw Orlando fall to 4-11 on the season.
The Magic were, unfortunately, without their ROY candidate, Paolo Banchero. He has not played since November 7th for the Magic, a small absence that has not hurt his status as a heavy betting favorite for the ROY (he’s 1/8 with bet365). However, if he does not return to action soon then you have to wonder if he will start to drift as a favorite.
