Here’s a rundown of what has been going on in the NBA lately.

In one of the late games from the NBA last night, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Brooklyn Nets. LeBron James missed the game and that made Anthony Davis the focal point of the Lakers’ offense. Davis scored 37 points in the contest, the best scoring performance of his season so far. The Lakers won the game 116-103 to claim just their third victory of the season.

The loss is a little bit of a stall for the Brooklyn Nets. They seemed to be playing better in the post-Steve Nash era. However, they enter this week with just a 6-8 overall record.

Utah and Golden State: road struggles

The Utah Jazz have been a hot topic of discussion lately. The big question with Utah is simple: are they for real? They started the season 10-3 but suffered two losses over the weekend to fall to 10-5. If they have an Achilles Heal, then it seems to be road games. All of their losses so far this season have happened on the road.

A team with much worse road struggles is Golden State. The Warriors lost to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday evening. Domantas Sabonis had a ridiculous game: he scored 26 points and had an amazing 22 rebounds in the contest.

Golden State has not yet won a game on the road this season. They are now 0-7 despite playing what could only be called a weak road schedule. The Kings started the season poorly but they’ve done alright in recent games. They now have a 6-6 record as they look to try and contend for a playoff spot this season.

Charlotte’s fortunes got worse

In other injury news, life got a little bit tougher for the Charlotte Hornets. They lost Cody Martin to injury according to news that the team recently released. The Hornets are just 3-11 so far this season. They have been playing without their injured star, LaMelo Ball, for the most part. He returned over the weekend but Charlotte posted another loss.

The Hornets will play another losing team on Monday, the Orlando Magic. The Magic earned their second straight victory on Friday night in a very counterintuitive result that saw them upend Phoenix despite Paolo Banchero missing the game. Orlando is a -1.5 point favorite against Charlotte for their Monday night game.
