Home » Recent NBA News (Dec. 7th): Lakers, Warriors injuries

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors are two teams that have roster problems on Wednesday. The Lakers will be without both LeBron James and Anthony Davis in their game against the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, the Warriors expect to be without Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins in their game against the Utah Jazz. The Raptors are -12.0 favorites against LA while Utah is set at -7.5 against the Warriors with bet365 sportsbook.

Davis was active for LA on Tuesday, however, he didn’t have much of an encore to his previous games, one where he had a 55-point outburst. The Lakers’ starter left Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after playing just eight minutes in the contest. The Lakers were not competitive without their starter and they lost to the Cavs 116-104. It will be hard to picture LA staying competitive with Toronto on Wednesday night.

The loss on Tuesday and a presumed loss on Wednesday represent a little bit of a speed bump for Los Angeles. They seemed to be getting into the swing of things as they had won eight of their last ten heading into this week. LA is now 10-13 on the season and perhaps still looking like a better team than the one that originally came out of the gates this season. However, they also seem like they need a little bit more depth added to their roster.

Detroit beats Miami 116-96

In another result on Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Miami Heat 116-96. Miami hosted the game and the result could be noted as their worst home loss of the season.

The Heat were without Jimmy Butler in the game. The small forward made a return from injury last week against the Boston Celtics. However, the Heat sat Butler against Detroit in favor of improving the player’s conditioning. Arguably, the absence was noticed as the Heat fell by 20.

Detroit is just 7-19 on the season following the victory. Perhaps NBA bettors could note that they have had just a small amount of pep in their step lately. They have, after all, gone 4-4 over their last four games. Any kind of mediocre record for a low-ranked team should be paid attention to. Besides the Heat, Detroit has beaten Memphis, Utah, and Denver in recent weeks. Furthermore, they avoided double-digit losses to both Phoenix and Cleveland. The Pistons enter Wednesday with a +11.0 handicap

Big games coming up on Wednesday night

The Sacramento Kings will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. This is a game that takes on some meaning in the NBA at this point in the season. The Kings actually appear to be a pretty good team for once — can they prove that they are not overrated with a road win over the Bucks?

In another game between two teams that placed high in our recent power rankings, the Boston Celtics will face the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. This will be a late game on the evening for the NBA. The Suns will be at home with a 12-2 record when hosting. However, the elite Boston Celtics are 9-3 as visitors. This will be the No. 1 vs No. 3 team in our current power rankings squaring off.
