The Houston Rockets pulled off a stunning victory on Friday night. They were up against the best team in the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns, in a game that the Suns hosted. Behind a 36-point fourth quarter, Houston edged Phoenix 122-121 to just its third road victory of the season.
For Phoenix, the result saw them drop to 12-2 at home. In the team’s previous matchup on October 30th, the Suns had won comfortably 124-109. Houston’s next game is today, Saturday, December 3rd, when they will be taking on the Golden State Warriors in a game GS host.
Jimmy Butler was back in action for Miami on Friday night. His Heat team defeated the Boston Celtics 120-116 in a game that went to overtime. Butler had 25 points and 15 rebounds in the game as the Celtics suffered just their 5th loss of the season.
On the previous night, the two teams met without Butler in the lineup. That resulted in a 13-point loss for the Heat. Miami is now 11-12 on the season but will be looking to go above .500 following Butler’s return.
The Los Angeles Lakers have generally been winning their games of late. They have won seven of their last nine games, including a victory on Friday night over the second-best team in the league. The Lakers were in Milwaukee and handed the Bucks a 133-129 loss.
The Lakers are still just 9-12 and they are just 5th in the Pacific Division. However, there is a growing sense of optimism surrounding the team. LeBron James has 11 assists in the game and that moved him into 6th place on the all-time leaders’ board for NBA assists, surpassing Magic Johnson.
The NBA has seven games scheduled for Saturday, including an early game between the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks. The Sacramento Kings will face the LA Clippers at 1pm PT, a game that the Clippers will be hosting. Later in the day, the OKC Thunder will be facing the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trailblazers will face the Utah Jazz.
