The New Orleans Pelicans didn’t seem to have that much to offer for a starting lineup in their game on Sunday. They hosted the Sacramento Kings and the Pels were without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Jonas Valanciunas. But not only did the Pelicans win but they won the game in a contest that was a total one-sided blowout.

New Orleans put up a large double-digit margin of victory in the uncompetitive affair, winning by 32 points. The final score was Sacramento 104, and New Orleans 136, a result that shows that the Kings need their starting point, De’Aaron Fox, really badly.

Sacramento Kings: #8 Ranked Team at a Glance

  • Overall record: 29-23
  • Home record: 16-10
  • Away record: 13-12
  • Winning/losing streak: L2
  • Last ten games: 5-5

Kings @ Pelicans Sunday: Trey Murphy III scores 30

With the loss, the Kings are now 29-23 overall on the season. Fox has missed the team’s last two games due to personal reasons (birth of child). The Kings went -35 in the two games combined for point differential. Sacramento, who did not have a great week, are at risk of dropping in the rankings when we update our Top Ten NBA Power Rankings for Monday morning.

The stats in the game results could be held to hurt their backup PG’s reputation. Davion Mitchell went -47 on point differential in the two games combined.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans improved to 28-27 with the 32-point victory. The top scorer in the game was Trey Murphy III. He had an impressive 30 points in the contest to help the Pelicans to a that they needed badly. The Pelicans have not been a good team since they lost Zion Williamson to injury but they have now won two straight. Looking ahead, they have two reasonably difficult games this week with Atlanta and Cleveland coming to town.
