Chicago Bulls may sign Patrick Beverley. That would add some depth to Chicago’s point guard position for a playoff push.
The Chicago Bulls are having a disappointing season. When we looked at this team a couple of days ago, they had a win total with bet365 of 38.5 and they were a coin toss to go either OVER or UNDER. The recent news with this team is that they might sign Patrick Beverley for the remainder of the season.
If the Bulls acquire Beverley, then it’s not that major of a move. Beverley was with the LA Lakers at the start of the NBA season.
The Lakers themselves have had a disappointing campaign to date and, arguably, they must have seen Beverley as part of the problem. LA shipped him out and brought in some fresh faces to see if they can attempt their own playoff push.
If Chicago signs Beverley, then bettors should not overreact to it. Chicago would be adding some depth in the point guard position, they would be better off for it, but Beverley is not a player that can carry a huge load. Beverley would either start or perhaps come off of the bench with Ayo Dosunmu getting the starts as PG.
The Bulls also have Alex Caruso in the point guard position. He has been listed as day-to-day since February 17th. You have to wonder if there’s something going on with Caruso that would motivate them to sign Beverley. Also, the Bulls also have an ace point guard in Lonzo Ball, however, he remains out with an injury. In signing a player that plays Ball’s position, you have to think that he, Ball, won’t suit up this season.
The fancy stats for Beverley are not that good this season. If you go by some of the advanced stats at basketball-reference, like BPM (Box Plus/Minus), Beverley is good on defense but weak on offense at this point in his career. These stats are just food for thought but they support the notion that this signing isn’t that big of a deal.
Chicago could still be expected to play well after the break. The week off should help this team more than most as they had a lot of niggling injuries.
