Nuggets vs Warriors recap for Thursday, February 2nd, 2023. The Warriors (now 26-26 this season) lost to the Nuggets, who are now 36-16.
The Denver Nuggets, who now have a 24-4 home record, hosted the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. The Nuggets, thanks in part to a triple-double from Nikola Jokic, won the game in a contest that was not close as time expired. They put up a double-digit margin of victory in the game, winning by 17 points. The final score was Golden State 117, and Denver 134 as the Nuggets looked to stay high in the various power rankings that are out there (they are No. 3 in ours).
With the loss, the Warriors are now 26-26 overall on the season. They played the game without starters Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, which provides some insight into the size of the loss. The Warriors got their scoring from Steph Curry and Jordan Poole, two players that had 28 and 22 points respectively.
But the top scorer in the game was Jamal Murray for Denver. He had an impressive 33 points in the contest as the Nuggets improved to 36-16 with the 17-point victory. Murray has been off and on the team’s injury report so it is reassuring for Denver backers to see him make a major contribution.
The Nuggets have been the dominant team in the Western Conference for the last couple of months. They are 22-6 in their last 28 games and they are starting to get comfortable on top of their conference standings. That’s partly due to the slump that No. 2 Memphis is in.
The Nuggets do have the best home record in the NBA. As per the chart below, they are 24-4 when hosting. If they secure the No. 1 seed in the months ahead, then they will be very difficult to knock out in any series where they have a home-court advantage.
