The New York Jets, a team that has really faded in recent weeks, hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. The Jaguars, who have to be feeling optimistic about their chances of winning their division after Ryan Tannehill went out, won the game in a contest that had a multi-possession spread for a final score on Thursday night. The result was Jacksonville 19, New York 3 in a game where the Jets really struggled to score.

There are two teams, including the Jaguars, between the Jets and the final playoff spot in the AFC Wild Card standings. Furthermore, the Jets would lose on tiebreakers to both Jacksonville and New England, two teams that are ahead of them in the standings.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars improved to 7-8 with the 16-point victory. Following Thursday, they are the 9th-placed team in the conference. But the simplest way for the Jaguars to make it into the playoffs is to overtake the 7-7 Tennessee Titans for the AFC South divisional lead. The Jags and their fans will no doubt be turning their attention to Tennessee’s Week 16 result, which will be determined on Saturday.
Trevor Lawrence passes for 229 yards
The winning quarterback in the game was Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars. It was not a great game statistically for Lawrence. He had 229 passing yards in the outing and his ratio of TDs to INTs was 0 to 0. Lawrence, the top pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, had a passer rating of 86.6.
The losing quarterback in the game was Zach Wilson, the second pick from the same draft. He had 92 passing yards in the outing and his ratio of TDs to INTs was 0 to 1. Wilson had a passer rating of 41.9 and was replaced in the game but Chris Streveler did not fare much better as New York continues to search for a quarterback that can lead their team.
With Christmas on Sunday this year, the bulk of the NFL games for the week will be played on Saturday. However, there is a Christmas Day triple-header and a Monday night game to come.
