NFL Coach of the Year Favorites for Week 4

Who will win the NFL's Coach of the Year award for 2022/23. Here's a look at the early favorites with a popular sportsbook.

The NFL Coach of the Year award is a voted-on award. The winner of the award is a head coach that is usually perceived as having done "more with less." Conversely, sometimes the award just goes to the NFL coach that wins a ton of NFL games -- even if it was thought that the team would do well from the onset. Here's a look at the NFL Coach of the Year candidates as NFL teams prepare for Week 4.

NFL Coach of the Year betting odds (bet365)

  1. Nick Sirianni, Philadelphia Eagles +300
  2. Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins +400
  3. Doug Pederson, Jacksonville Jaguars +500
  4. Kevin O'Connell, Minnesota Vikings +900
  5. Brian Daboll, New York Giants +1600

The head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni, gets the nod for favorite after a 3-0 start. Mike McDaniel's side is also 3-0 and that has made the Miami Dolphins' head coach one of the favorites. Meanwhile, Doug Pederson is the third favorite with a 2-1 team.

There are lots of 2-1 teams in the NFL but what Pederson likely has going for him is the perception that he is doing "more with less." Few would have had the Jaguars at 2-1 at this point in the season following last year's fiasco of 3-14.

Kevin O'Connell of the Minnesota Vikings and Brian Daboll of the New York Giants are the 4th and 5th favorites. Each team is 2-1 to start the season.

If you are trying to predict who will coach of the year in the NFL, you are basically trying to predict the outcome of an election. What coach will have a great record AND be perceived as having done "more with less" during their campaign? Time will tell but the Week 4 game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars will be an interesting one to watch.
