There were a lot of games on Friday night in the NBA. Here’s a recap of the night’s significant results for some of the early games in the association.
The Orlando Magic lost their best player earlier this week, Paolo Banchero. The Rookie of the Year favorite (bet365) is out of action with an ankle injury for the time being. However, the Magic won on Friday night and are now 2-0 without Banchero in the lineup. It will be interesting to see how Orlando adjusts when Banchero is back to full health.
Banchero started the season as the favorite to win the ROY award with bet365 at 7/4. He shortened to -1000 (1/10) just days ago with the same sportsbook. The injury has seen him lengthen a little but he is still at -800 (1/8) to win the award this season.
In a game that we previewed in our picks section, the OKC Thunder wrecked the Toronto Raptors on Friday evening. The final score in the game was OKC 132, Toronto 113. Toronto was missing Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa for the game. The large-spread victory enabled the Thunder to rest their starters but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander still had 20 points in 28 minutes of playing time.
The San Antonio Spurs got back in the win column on Friday night. They have had some injury issues lately but on Friday it was their opponent, the Milwaukee Bucks that had the injuries. Notably, Giannis Antetokounmpo missed the game and the Spurs raced to a 111-93 victory. It was only the second loss on the season for Milwaukee. They fell to 10-2 while the Spurs improved to 5-6 on the season. This was a game that we previewed in our “Picks” section as well with a recommendation to take the Spurs for the win.
