The NBA, fresh off of an action-packed weekend that saw the Boston Celtics lose to the Golden State Warriors, featured seven games in its schedule for Monday, December 12th, 2022.

On a night that also included an NFL game between the New England Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals, fourteen NBA teams took to the courts. Here’s a recap of the action that has been completed at the time of writing, with all of the odds or spreads mentioned below from bet365 sportsbook.

Heat vs Pacers @ 7 PM ET (Miami Heat were -2.5)

The Indiana Pacers entered this game with a record of 14-13 thus far this season. However, they fell to 14-14 after suffering a five-point loss to the Miami Heat, a team that is now 13-15. Miami covered the small spread in this game, our betting recommendation missed, and the game could be noted for a very low score. The final was Miami 87, Indiana 82.

On shorter-termed trends, the Pacers are a team that has been losing more than winning lately. They suffered a bad loss over the weekend when they fell to a Brooklyn team that was missing several key players. There does seem to be something amiss with this Indiana team. They’ve been central to trade rumors over the last little while and it will be interesting to see what moves they make — if any.

Nets vs Wizards @ 7 PM ET (Brooklyn Nets were -5.0)

The Washington Wizards entered this game with a record of 11-16 thus far this season. They fell to 11-17 after suffering what was their seventh straight loss. They remain the coldest team in the NBA. Bettors looking to back them have to be aware of this team’s slump and their general downward direction in recent weeks.

The Brooklyn Nets are now 17-12 on the season. They also covered the spread in this game, posting a 12-point margin to cover the -5.0 spread. This was a game where our betting recommendation was correct but perhaps conservative.

Hawks vs Grizzlies @ 8 PM ET (Atlanta Hawks were +7.0)

The Memphis Grizzlies entered this game with a record of 17-9 thus far this season. They improved to 18-9 following a one-sided affair against the Atlanta Hawks, a team that is now 14-14. The Grizzlies posted a huge 128-103 victory against an Atlanta team that could only be called “reeling” at this point in their season. Our betting recommendation for this game was correct too. Memphis remains one of the stronger teams in the Western Conference, looking up at only the New Orleans Pelicans.

Thunder vs Mavericks @ 8:30 PM ET (OKC +8.5)

The Dallas Mavericks entered this game with a record of 13-13 thus far this season. Following a disappointing stretch, the Mavericks pulled this one out against the Thunder, winning 121-114. Luka Doncic had 38 points in the game to lead his team, however, the game’s high scorer was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had 42 points. Our betting recommendation for this game was a hit as we recommended OKC with their handicap, one that was just big enough to play.

Cavaliers vs Spurs @ 8:30 PM ET (Cavaliers were -5.5)

The San Antonio Spurs entered this game with a record of 8-18 thus far this season. The big news with the Spurs is that they had actually won two games in a row heading into the game.

The Spurs kept that winning streak alive with a surprise victory over the Cavaliers, 112-111. San Antonio is now 9-18 on the season while the Cleveland Cavaliers fell to 17-9. Cleveland, by virtue of their record, remains one of the better teams in the NBA, however, they’ve been a touch sluggish lately and a loss to one of the worst teams should serve as a wake-up call.

Timberwolves vs Trail Blazers @ 10 PM ET (Wolves +4.5)

The Portland Trail Blazers enter this game with a record of 14-12 thus far this season. They seemed to be hotter when the season started, however, the team did miss Damian Lillard for a little while and seemed to struggle a little in kind. The Minnesota Timberwolves enter this game with a record of 13-13 thus far this season. It’s not clear what to expect out of this team yet following the injury to Karl-Anthony Towns.

Celtics vs Clippers @ 10:30 PM ET (Celtics are -4.0)

The LA Clippers enter this game with a record of 15-13 thus far this season. They are a team that just has not found a groove with injuries affecting numerous players. The Boston Celtics, the best team in our power rankings, enter this game with a record of 21-6 thus far this season. They are coming off of a loss to the Golden State Warriors and will be keen to play sharply against LA to ensure that losing games doesn’t become habitual.
