Knicks vs Magic recap for Wednesday, February 7th, 2023. The Magic (now 22-33 this season) lost to the Knicks, who are now 30-26.
The Orlando Magic, a team that has to make a move soon to make the play-in tournament, hosted the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The Knicks, who are now 16-11 when playing on the road, won the game in a contest that was fairly close at the final buzzer.
They, the Knicks, put up a single-digit spread in the game, winning by 4 points. The final score was New York 102, and Orlando 98 as the Knick overcame a small deficit heading into the fourth quarter.
With the loss, the Magic are now 22-33 overall on the season. The Magic are not a terrible team — if you throw out their start to the season when they went just 5-20. It could be that slow start to the season that costs them, however. They have a lot of work to do if they are going to get into the play-in tournament, which is the most realistic positive goal for this team.
Meanwhile, the Knicks improved to 30-26 with the 4-point victory. The top scorer in the game was Jalen Brunson. He had a very good 25 points in the contest while his teammate, Julius Randle, had a double-double for points and rebounds, with 22 and 14 respectively.
Where Orlando is trying to get into the play-in tournament, the Knicks will be trying to get out of it in the weeks and months ahead. New York will finish Tuesday in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. They will hope to play into a top-six seed to guarantee themselves a playoff series this season. The team has not been razor-sharp over the last few weeks and they have a tough game coming up on Friday against Philadelphia.
