In one of the more one-sided games in the NBA on Friday night, the Sacramento Kings hosted the Houston Rockets. The Kings, thanks in large part to a triple-double from Damontas Sabonis, won the game in a contest that was not competitive as time expired.

For the second straight game, the Kings put up a huge spread in defeating the Rockets, this time winning by 25 points. The final score was Houston 114, and Sacramento 139 as the latter improved to 4th place in the Western Conference standings.

Harrison Barnes and two on Houston scored 27 each

With the loss, the Rockets are now 10-32 overall on the season. This is a team that we’ve been looking at a lot lately due to their horrific form. It’s only the halfway point of the NBA season but Houston seems to be pointing directly at a lottery pick. Since December 14th, 2022, the Rockets have gone just 1-14. They are out of the conversation for any kind of postseason talk, even just as the 10th-place team in the play-in tournament.

On Friday, they had two players that were co-leaders for points in the game. Jabari Smith Jr. had 27 points and so did Jalen Green. They tied with Harrison Barnes of Sacramento, a player that also had 27 points.

Houston Rockets: Recent Form Alert

  • Houston Rockets were 9-18 (December 14th, 2022)
  • Following Friday they are 10-32
  • They’ve gone 1-14 over the last month to plummet in the standings

Meanwhile, the Kings improved to 23-18 with the 25-point victory. Damontas Sabonis had a triple-double in the game for points, rebounds, and assists. The standout center had 19, 15, and 16 respectively. With the season he is having, he is a player that might enter the MVP debate in the second half of the season.
