Kings vs Rockets recap for Wednesday, February 8th, 2023. The Rockets (now 13-42 this season) lost to the Kings, who are now 31-23.
The Houston Rockets, the team in the NBA with the fewest wins, hosted the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. The Kings won the game in a contest that was close at the final buzzer. They put up a single-possession spread in the game, winning by 2 points. The final score was Sacramento 130, and Houston 128 with a link to the highlights posted below. The game ended with some controversy as the Kings were awarded three free throws with 0.3 seconds left after an officiating call that wasn’t really clear.
With the loss, the Rockets are now 13-42 overall on the season. The top scorer in the game was Jalen Green, Houston’s second-year shooting guard. He had a very impressive 41 points in the contest on six-of-nine three-point shooting. However, the Rockets stayed cold in the wins-and-loss columns as per the “Recent Form Alert” chart below.
Meanwhile, the Kings improved to 31-23 with the 2-point victory. Domantas Sabonis did not have a double-double in the game and that is newsworthy. The standard is for him to have one and it’s a rare game these days for him to miss one. However, De’Aaron Fox did have a double-double for points and assists with 31 and 11 respectively.
He missed a couple of games earlier this month due to the birth of his child. The Kings suffered losses in those games and it’s crystal clear that the Kings need Fox to play in order to be a contender for their division, one that is tightening up. The Kings will finish the night in first place in the Pacific but there are a lot of teams behind them making some noise.
