The longest playoff drought in the NBA is over. The Sacramento Kings beat the Portland Trail Blazers 120-80 last night (29) and were able to clinch their first playoff berth since 2006. 16 years later we will finally see the Kings playing in the postseason again. This was in fact the longest playoff drought in all major US sports (NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB).
De’Aron Fox contributed to this victory with 18 points and after the game, he got it off his chest: “We want to do bigger things, but 16 years — that’s a long time. So that feels great just being able to get that off us”. But Malik Monk was the King’s top scorer in the game, with 19 points. Domantas Sabonis also helped with a double-double (15 PTS/12 REB).
But it was Shaedon Sharpe who scored the most points in the game, even though the Blazers lost the game. He scored 30 points while Kevin Knox, with 12 points and 12 rebounds, recorded a double-double. Even playing at home, the Blazers didn’t stand a chance last night.
