Joel Embiid scores 59 against Utah Jazz

Joel Embiid was among the high performers on Sunday. He scored 59 points for the Philadelphia 76ers in a win over Utah.

Joel Embiid started Sunday with questionable playing status for the Philadelphia 76ers as they prepared to host the Utah Jazz. The Jazz probably would have been a lot happier if he had watched their Sunday game instead of participating.

Embiid had 59 points against the Jazz to go with 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 blocks. The 76ers probably would not have won without Embiid's performance. The final score in the game was Philadelphia 105, Utah 98.

The Jazz fell to 10-5 on the season with the result. A little bit of a pattern has emerged with the team. They are 5-0 when hosting, however, road games are a little different for Utah. They are just 5-5 on the road so far, including back-to-back losses this weekend.

Cavaliers lose without Donovan Mitchell

In other action, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs were playing without both Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell. That left a lot of rebounding space for Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns and they hauled down 13 each in the game.

The result sees the Cavaliers fall to 8-5 on the season. With four straight losses, the Cavs are a team that has really come back to the pack. JB Bickerstaff might be guilty of overplaying Mitchell, a player that was leading the league in minutes per game recently.

Washington Wizards in a winning streak

The Washington Wizards are starting to play solid basketball. They beat Utah early in the weekend and then the Wizards followed the result up with a 102-92 victory over Memphis. After a slow start, the Wizards have now won four straight games to improve to 8-6 on the season. Next up for Washington is a game on Wednesday against the OKC Thunder.
