Here we go again. A player who doesn’t want to talk to the press. This is not exactly new in the North American major leagues. And it happened once again last weekend after the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics 128-102 in Game 3. Miami’s star Jimmy Butler didn’t show up for the post-game interview and was fined $25K.

After the game, NBA TV, which has been broadcasting the post-game press conferences, announced that Jimmy Butler would be one of the players attending the encounter with the media. However, besides coach Erik Spoelstra, only Bam Adebayo, Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent (who is out of Game 5) appeared.

This is not news in the sports world. Sometimes the player is just shy. Other times they don’t have a great relationship with the press. Or even with a specific reporter. Whichever Jimmy Butler’s case is, he is not the first nor will be the last to do it.

For those who like NFL, it is impossible not to remember the iconic Marshawn Lynch interview before Super Bowl XLIX. He had a contractual obligation to meet with the press, and he did (so he won’t get fined).

Giannis Antetokounmpo remembered this during the NBA 2021 Finals. But in that case, he was just joking.

Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics series

After this happened, in Game 3, the Miami Heat had the chance to sweep the series and advance to the NBA Finals in Game 4. But even playing at home, they couldn’t. The Boston Celtics won on the road and forced Game 5, which takes place tonight. Will they also force a Game 6 or Miami will close the series tonight? Check out our preview and predictions for this match. Whatever happens, the Denver Nuggets are waiting to meet their rivals in the NBA Finals.
