The NBA featured a seven-game night on Tuesday. In one of the early games, the Miami Heat hosted the Boston Celtics. The Heat, who have been playing well for the last month, won the game in a contest that was close as time expired.
They put up a single-possession margin of victory in the game, winning by 3 points. The final score was Boston 95, and Miami 98 as Bam Adebayo paced Miami with 30 points.
Celtics @ Heat Tuesday: Jayson Tatum scores 31
With the loss, the Celtics are now 35-14 overall on the season. It was the second game that they lost in as many nights. Last night, the Celtics fell to the Orlando Magic.
Jayson Tatum (pictured) led all scorers in the game against Miami, however, Boston did not have much of a bench. They went just three deep in terms of players that came off of the bench and played over ten minutes in the game.
We update our power rankings every Sunday night. Boston was our top team entering this week. They remain there for the time being, however, two losses certainly won’t help them when next Sunday comes around. It will be interesting to see if the Philadelphia 76ers can keep up their winning ways and gain ground on Boston in the Atlantic Division.
Boston Celtics: #1 Ranked Team at a Glance
- Overall record: 35-14
- Home record: 18-5
- Away record: 17-9
- Winning/losing streak: L2
- Last ten games: 8-2
Meanwhile, the Heat improved to 27-22 with the 3-point victory. Jimmy Butler missed the game for Miami due to back soreness. With him resting, this truly was a bonus win for the Heat as they tallied a victory against the best team in the association while playing without their top player. As the chart below shows, Miami has played a lot better in the last month than they did in the opening two. They are looking very probable to get into the playoffs.
