In the NBA news that you had to know was coming, Lonzo Ball has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. The point guard for the Chicago Bulls has not seen any action this season. He has a knee injury that just won’t heal and it prevents him from doing any kind of high-impact basketball work.
Jamal Collier of ESPN is one writer that reported on the development on Tuesday:
Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season, the team announced Tuesday morning, as Ball continues to experience discomfort during basketball activities despite arthroscopic knee surgery before the season.

The Chicago Bulls recently added Patrick Beverley to their roster, a player who was with the LA Lakers for the bulk of this current season. Beverley plays the same position as Ball. Accordingly, the announcement that Ball is done for the season comes as no surprise. If the Bulls felt that Ball was capable of playing this season, then they probably would not have signed Beverley.
Ball’s injury is very mysterious. He has not played since January 2022. When the injury first occurred, it seemed like it would be minor. However, he has now missed more than a year of his prime. That could reasonably initiate some conjecture that his career might be in jeopardy because of this injury.
The Bulls are now in a position where they know what their cards are. At 26-33, they sit in the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference, on the bubble for the play-in tournament. They went 3-7 in their last 10 games heading into the break and will need a change of form in order to improve their playoff outlook.
