Lakers vs Celtics recap. LA lost a heartbreaker on Saturday night in a game that had some controversy thanks to Patrick Beverley.
The Boston Celtics hosted the LA Lakers on Saturday night. The Celtics, who had a trio of consecutive losses heading into the game, beat LA in a contest that was close and required overtime. Boston put up a single-digit margin of victory in the game, winning by 4 points. The final score in the contest was LA 121, and Boston 125 (OT) in a game that will be remembered for a poor decision that Patrick Beverley made.
With the loss, the Lakers are now 23-27 overall on the season. LeBron James seemed to do everything that he could to win this game. With 41 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists he almost had another triple-double.
But the Lakers seemed to have the game in a manageable spot as the final seconds of regulation ticked down. However, guard Patrick Beverley fouled a Boston player during a close-up shot attempt for an “and-one” layup. With only four seconds to go, if Beverley had not committed the pointless foul, LA would have been in the driver’s seat with a one-point lead. Instead, Boston tied the game and then proceeded to win in overtime.
Even with the victory, Boston’s current stay on top of our Top Ten NBA Power Rankings is in jeopardy. The Philadelphia 76ers, who won earlier in the day, are our presumptive No. 1. We update each Sunday night so the results still to come on Sunday will still factor in.
