The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are -11.0 point favorites against the Carolina Panthers in NFL Week 7. That spread is a large spread relative to almost all other games this season. The Bucs’ injury report doesn’t look as bad as it has looked in previous weeks and one of their better talents has improved over the week so far.

Tampa Bay’s key players on the injury report

Tight-end Cameron Brate is on the report. He remains questionable with a sprained neck. He was DNP on both Wednesday and Thursday for the Bucs’ practices. Brate played last week in TB’s loss to Pittsburgh. On the season, he has 13 receptions on 22 targets.

Wide receiver Julio Jones has been on several injury reports for the Bucs so far this season. He was upgraded on Thursday to a limited participant in the Bucs’ practice. That’s an improvement from DNP on Wednesday. Jones is listed as having a knee injury. Jones is still questionable for Week 7 and he has just 4 receptions on the season.

Carolina’s key players on the injury report

Carolina’s mess of a season should continue in Week 7. Firstly, their starting QB, Baker Mayfield, remains on the injury report with a bad ankle. He was DNP on Wednesday but improved to limited on Thursday. It’s not clear what kind of difference he will make as he was not effective during his starts before getting injured.

Cornerback CJ Henderson is on the report as well. He remains in concussion protocols but was upgraded from DNP to limited participation between Wednesday and Thursday this week.

The Panthers are 1-5 on the season and 0-1 under their new head coach Steve Wilks. They will be hosting the Buccaneers on Sunday and can ground some optimism in the fact that the Bucs have simply had trouble scoring so far this season. In their six games so far, they would have covered a -11.0 spread just one time.
