76ers vs Magic recap for Wednesday, February 1st, 2023. The Magic (now 20-32 this season) lost to the 76ers, who are now 33-17.
The Philadelphia 76ers, the top-ranked team in our current NBA power rankings, suffered an embarrassing loss to the Orlando Magic earlier this week. Philly hosted the Magic again on Wednesday, looking to redeem themselves.
On this occasion, the 76ers won in a contest that was not close as time expired. They put up a double-digit margin of victory in the game, winning by 11 points. The final score was Orlando 94, and Philadelphia 105.
With the loss, the Magic are now 20-32 overall on the season. They are not dead in the water at this point in their season: Orlando can still flirt with the idea of making the play-in tournament. They have their starting lineup in place right now and can hope to stay competitive in most games so long as that stays true.
Meanwhile, the 76ers improved to 33-17 with the 11-point victory. The top scorer in the game was Joel Embiid. He had a very good 28 points in the contest and James Harden had 26 points in support.
One takeaway from this game is that Philadelphia moved away from PJ Tucker. He had a season-low of 13 minutes in the game. Tucker is a noted underachiever with Philadelphia this season. He has only hit double-digits for any statistical category twice this season. He’s a glaring weak point in Philly’s lineup that you have to think they will be addressing.
This is a player to watch for news ahead of the trade deadline. That doesn’t mean Philly will trade him but they may need to relegate him to the reserves and solidify their starting lineup.
