The PLG Grand Slam 2018 will take place from the 12th till the 15th of December 2018. The event has a prize pool of $100,000 and will see 16 teams in participation. It will take place at the du Forum in Abu Dhabi. Out of the sixteen teams, eight will receive a direct invite from PLG. The remaining eight teams come via qualifiers.
The list of invited teams to the event shows a diversity on part of the tournament organisers. They have teams from Europe, North America, South Africa as well as Asia. Their latest announcement mentions Tyloo as the invitee to the tournament. Tyloo is one of the best teams in Asia. They have dominated the Asian Counter-Strike scene for quite some time. Despite seeing roster changes in the past, Tyloo has been able to maintain its dominance in Asia for quite some time.
Honored to be part of this international tournament in Abu Dhabi.
Tyloo Manager.
They are the sixth team to receive a direct invite to the tournament. They join the likes of G2, Fnatic, Hellraisers, NASR esports and Energy at the event. In addition to these teams, there are also other qualified teams such as 5Power, Grayhound, B.O.O.T. [d]reamScape, INTZ esports etc. Tyloo’s name in Chinese comes from a Chinese mythical hybrid creature, Tianlu.
The tournament will follow a GSL Format with four groups of four teams each. Each group will send two teams to the Playoffs. The Group stages employ a double elimination format providing teams with ample opportunities to prove themselves in multiple instances. The $100,000 prize pool is a significant step up for the event organisers. The 2017 event saw a $5,000 prize pool. The successful completion of the 2017 event has obviously enabled the organisers to ensure better sponsors and more funding for the current season.
You can catch all the action live on Twitch. We will keep you informed of any new invites announced by the tournament organisers.
