IEM Oakland definitely put up a big surprise with NIP winning the grand finals against Faze Clan. NIP have been down and out for most of their time in 2017 and not many expected them to win the trophy or either reach the finals. However NIP along with their mental coach provided some really entertaining CSGO to prove that they are still within the game.
NiP beating FaZe in a Bo5 final would legitimately qualify for the biggest upset in the history of CS:GO.

Thoorin, the esports historian believes that this is the biggest upset in CSGO history. he has been a strong critique of the NIP roster and how they operate. However he has also been known to be repeatedly wrong with his predictions many a times getting all his predictions in a tournament wrong.
