Dota 2 has announced that the new Ranked Season will commence in January. The ranked seasons in Dota 2 are a chance for players to get a new rank and possibly improve their standing. Having a higher rank places you in the same league as other stronger players. It improves your gameplay and provides you with an opportunity to learn from better players.
The current Season 2 of Dota 2 ranked started on the 6th of June 2018, With six months over, the new season should start at the beginning of January 2019. The different ranks in Dota 2 depend on your MMR. Each win allows a +25 MMR while a loss means a -25 MMR for players. While there are no fixed tiers for the next rank, the approximate levels are based on your percentile performance.
The next ranked matchmaking season will begin in January, so anyone on the verge of their next Rank Medal still has a few more weeks to level up their game.

Meanwhile, the Dota 2 esports scene is eagerly awaiting the resumption of the Dota Pro Circuit. The next DPC event is the Bucharest Minor, which starts on the 9th of January 2019. TI8 winner OG will be participating in the Major along with European team NIP. The winner of the Minor qualifies for the Chongqing Major.
